Here's the lie you tell yourself: "It's faster if I just handle it." It is this week. Next year, it's the reason you can't take a vacation, can't get sick, and can't scale past your own two hands. You're not running a business. You're running a hostage situation, and you're the hostage.
WHY You're the Ceiling:
Bandwidth: You have one brain and 24 hours. Every task you hoard is a task your business can't grow past.
Risk: If only you can do it, you're a single point of failure — not a founder, a liability.
Trust Atrophy: Every time you swoop in and redo someone's work, you teach them not to try. You're not protecting quality. You're training helplessness.
HOW to Actually Delegate:
The 70% Handoff: Don't wait for someone to do it exactly like you. If they can do it 70% as well as you, hand it off. The other 30% is the cost of getting your time back.
Document Once, Delegate Forever: Before you hand off any task, record yourself doing it once (Loom works fine). That recording is now a training asset for every future hire — not just this one.
The 24-Hour Rule: When you feel the urge to take a task back, wait 24 hours. Most of the time, the urge passes and the work still got done.
